Fallen Victim?

Are you putting the work in?

Giving the gym your all? But still not seeing progress?

Maybe you have fallen victim to one (or more) of the following?

❌ You keep doing the same exact workout (even though nothing changes.) Regardless, with no progress you continue to do the same workout over and over again, expecting different results. Do you know what this is? This is the definition of insanity. It’s time to end the madness and switch your routine! Whether it be the weight, reps or exercises themselves.

❌ Treating all calories as if they are the same. YES, a calorie is a calorie but there is a difference between cake & ice cream and a plate of chicken, rice and broccoli. You are what you eat. You will perform better, repair better, and feel better if you eat better.

❌Not focusing on recovery! Recovery is just as important as the work you put in. In order to build muscle and strength you actually need to destroy/tear apart the muscle. Your body needs time to recover, rebuild and repair. When you do not give yourself enough time to recover (sleep, rest days, active recovery, etc) you risk your progress. Without proper recovery you risk overuse injuries, fatigue, loss of motivation, low energy, burnout, etc.

❌Thinking exercise will cancel out what you eat. Unfortunately, you can’t over eat, or eat garbage and think working out is going to erase it. You have to be conscious of the amount of food you are consuming (this includes beverages too!)

❌You are focusing on cardio because you are under the belief that it will make you lose weight. While you may lose some weight , it's not a long term solution. Focus on strength training. Strength training will help keep your metabolism running, build muscle , increase energy, help prevent injury and keep you strong.

❌You make one “bad” decision and decide the whole day is in the toilet. You were at a meeting and had a donut

. You are upset that you ate the donut so you decide the day is ruined. Since the day is ruined it doesn’t matter what you eat for lunch. Now you feel extra horrible, so what's the point in working out? (Your workout won't erase the donut and the pizza from lunch. ) So you skip your workout. We all have moments where we fall off. Life is meant to be enjoyed not to be punished every time you eat a donut. When you decide to enjoy life a little, don't be hard on yourself, just get back on track the next chance you get.

Which one have you fallen victim to? I have fallen victim to neglecting recovery. I now make it a priority and it speaks in my progress.

Remember health and fitness is constant work in progress. When things aren't going as you would like, take a step back and analyze where it's going wrong. The solution may be as easy as switching it up or getting more protein in your diet.
